Severed foot in Puma shoe is found on San Francisco beach

A National Park Service worker made a grim discovery Sunday at a beach in San Francisco: a human foot inside a Puma running shoe.

The foot was found by a National Park Service beach patrol in a response to a call from a visitor to the section of Ocean Beach near Taraval Street, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. There was no sign of the rest of the body.

“What we have is a human foot, with some associated tissue, inside of a shoe,” Mark Powning, an investigator with the city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, told the newspaper. “It probably was rolling around the seabed for a while.”

The green and black mesh-style Puma sneaker was size 11½.
