Smoke forces evacuation of BART station
Heavy smoke and possibly a fire forced the evacuation of a Dublin Pleasanton Bay Area Rapid Transit train Monday night.
Riders and witnesses reported over Twitter that the train had caught fire and took pictures of heavy smoke.
BART Communications Manager Alicia Trost tweeted a short time later, “Train was not on fire but was smoking likely from a propulsion issue.”
The Fire Department was not needed, she said.
Another train took passengers from the area about 9:45 p.m.
