Two teens arrested after online video posted of animal cruelty
Two teenagers from the Bakersfield area have been arrested on suspicion of cruelty to animals after they allegedly fed a live cat to two dogs, authorities confirmed Tuesday.
The boys, ages 15 and 17, allegedly filmed the dogs attacking the cat and posted the video online, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators believe the incident occurred over the summer.
The county’s animal control department was alerted to the video this month, prompting an investigation by the Sheriff’s Department’s rural crimes unit, said Lt. Bill Smallwood, a department watch lieutenant.
The teens were arrested Monday and booked into Juvenile Hall, Smallwood said. The names of the suspects were not released because they are minors.
