Northern California toddler dies after being left for hours in hot car
Reporting from MORAGA, Calif. — Authorities say a toddler has died after being left for hours in a hot car in the Bay Area.
Police in Moraga received a 911 call Wednesday afternoon about the girl, who wasn’t breathing. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Authorities identified her as 19-month-old Lily Aracic of Oakland.
Police say a family member had left the child in the back seat while outside temperatures hit about 80 degrees, which means the inside of the car could have reached 130 degrees.
The same family member found the girl and called for help.
No arrests were made. The child’s death remains under investigation.
