Suspected gang shooting leaves 2 dead in Rancho Dominguez

A suspected gang rivalry sparked a car-to-car shooting in Rancho Dominguez that left two men dead, authorities said Monday night.

The shooting occurred around 4:45 p.m. in the 17600 block of South Santa Fe Avenue when the attackers drove up in a vehicle and opened fire on another car, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

The victims’s car collided with two other cars on the road. One man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The attackers drove away, authorities said.

HOMICIDE REPORT: A story for every victim

Homicide investigators were dispatched to the scene and were gathering evidence Monday night.

Only one other homicide has been reported in Rancho Dominguez since January 2007, according to The Times Homicide Report database. In that case, a 49-year-old man was found dead in the trunk of his burning car in September 2008.
