Woman found dead in fire at ‘packrat’ home in Temple City
A woman was found dead Monday night inside a Temple City home that was partially destroyed by fire, authorities said.
The fire broke out shortly before 8:30 p.m. at a two-story home in the 6100 block of Golden West Avenue, said Ed Pickett of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
More than 45 firefighters responded to the blaze, which was knocked down about 9 p.m., Pickett said.
Packrat conditions inside the home complicated the firefighting effort. Once inside, firefighters found a woman in her 60s who was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
Investigators were continuing to search for a possible second victim, Pickett said.
