Deputies investigate woman’s death in Monrovia
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman who was found in a vehicle in the backyard of a home in the 200 block of Mauna Loa Drive in Monrovia on Sunday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.
Deputies at the Industry sheriff’s station received a call from Valinda residents seeking a welfare check on a man and woman, described as the callers’ son and his girlfriend.

An earlier version of this post said that the victim had been strangled and that a man had been arrested. The Sheriff’s Department released new information stating that the cause of death was unknown and that a man had been detained.

The body of the son’s girlfriend was found in the vehicle in the backyard. Her cause of death is unknown, the department reported. The man is being detained.
