Family tied up, beaten in Toluca Lake home-invasion robbery
A Toluca Lake couple and their teenage son were tied up and beaten at gunpoint early Wednesday when three men broke into their home and robbed them, police said.
Authorities said the incident began about 1:30 a.m. on Toluca Estates Drive near Lankershim and Cahuenga boulevards, next to the Lakeside Golf Club. The intruders tied up the two homeowners with duct tape, and one of the robbers pistol-whipped their 16-year-old son, police said.
The robbers went downstairs about 20 minutes later, where they set off a motion alarm in the home that alerted police.
The men escaped with an undetermined amount of property, including jewelry, officials said. Detectives said jewelry appeared to be the robbers’ target.
No arrests were made, and the investigation was ongoing, officials said.
