Riverside officer shot by rogue ex-cop Dorner makes appearance
A Riverside police officer who was shot eight times in early February by a rogue ex-cop bent on carrying out a violent rampage made his first public appearance at a restaurant Friday evening, the Associated Press reported.
Officers Andrew Tachias and Michael Crain were ambushed by Christopher Dorner on Feb. 7 when Dorner pulled up beside their patrol car at a stoplight and opened fire. Crain died from his injuries and Tachias is still recovering.
On Friday night at Riverside’s Original Roadhouse Grill,Tachias shared a table with Crain’s wife, Regina, the AP reported.
She said of Tachias: “I think he’s like all of us. It’s ups and downs.”
“One minute you’re fine and the next you are in a hole,” she said, adding it was the first time they had met.
The dinner capped a daylong fundraiser for Crain and Tachias’s families.
Dorner apparently committed suicide Feb. 12 after he had killed four people and was tracked by authorities to a cabin near Big Bear Lake.
