53-year-old baby sitter charged with killing 4-year-old girl
A 53-year-old Westlake woman was charged Tuesday in the death of a 4-year-old girl she was baby-sitting.
Vanessa Denise Hawkins Scott pleaded not guilty to one charge of murder, assault on a child causing death and child abuse. She’s being held on $1.1 million bail.
A relative of the victim identified the little girl as Mya Migneault. The cause of death was blunt abdominal trauma, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Hawkins Scott was arrested Friday by the Los Angeles Police Department’s juvenile division after she rushed the 4-year-old to a hospital. Doctors there pronounced the girl dead, and Hawkins Scott was arrested by police.
Hawkins Scott is due back in court April 7.
