Chilly weather brings freeze warnings to California

Chilly overnight temperatures sparked freeze warnings throughout California, the National Weather Service said Friday.
Parts of the Bay Area and Central Valley will see overnight temperatures Saturday drop below 32 degrees, which could result in damage to crops, the weather service said.
Freeze warnings were issued for parts of the San Joaquin Valley and interior valleys north of San Francisco Bay. Freeze watches are in effect from the northern San Joaquin Valley through the Sacramento Valley, forecasters said.
A series of winter storms also dumped significant snow in the Sierras, and snow levels are expected to drop to 4,000 feet in the mountains and foothills in the Los Angeles area.
In the Los Angeles area, temperatures will hover around the low 60s during the day and fall into the low 40s in the evening. The cool weather is expected to continue through Monday morning, with temperatures warming to the mid-60s Tuesday and Wednesday.
In the San Bernardino Mountains, the Bear Mountain and Snow Summit ski resorts saw an extra one to two inches of snow overnight. There is a 30% chance of snow after 11 a.m., the weather service said.
