George Zimmerman’s wife says he threatened her with a gun, police say
George Zimmerman’s wife accused him of threatening her with a gun Monday after she filed for divorce last week, authorities said.
Shellie Zimmerman called police to her father’s house in Lake Mary, Fla., shortly after 2 p.m., saying her husband had threatened her with a gun, Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell told the Associated Press.
Bracknell told the AP that Zimmerman had not been arrested and officers were at the house trying to determine what had happened.
Shellie Zimmerman’s attorney, Kelly Sims, told ABC News that George Zimmerman pulled a knife on her after she found a firearm in the house they shared. He then pulled a gun on her and her father after a verbal altercation, Sims told ABC News.
A Lake Mary police spokesman told the Orlando Sentinel that no serious injuries were reported. It was not clear if anyone had sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce Thursday, two months after George Zimmerman was acquitted of murder in the 2012 shooting death of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Fla.
