Opinion Gets Shot Down

Last week, Opinion invited readers to visit latimes.com/rejected and vote on whether we were right to turn down an Outside the Tent contribution by KFI talk-show host John Ziegler. Maybe it was a groundswell of sympathy from other rejected pontificators, maybe Al Qaeda operatives infiltrated the website, or perhaps we should simply take the poll as a sign that sound judgment is in preciously short supply. Whatever the reason, we lost. Got killed. As this week’s section went to print, 64.4% of the 3,443 votes cast had gone to Ziegler, making us feel woefully — rejected.
