Letters: Less than happy in Santa Monica
Re “Happiness index,” March 14
The so-called happiness index for Santa Monica is an oddly Orwellian promise to measure the community’s well-being.
It is ironic that you feature a photo of a fitness trainer conducting classes in Santa Monica’s landmark Palisades Park. The invasion of our beloved park with fitness boot camps constitutes an inappropriate use of public space and inflicts damage to the landscape and historic features.
This catalog of abuse, plus the ongoing deluge of development in the pipeline for Santa Monica in general, will most certainly impact any “happiness index.”
