A media medley
Joel Pett is the Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist of the Lexington Herald-Leader. His work also appears in USA Today.
Cartoonists earn their daily bread from inside the media sphere looking out. But when the news is the news, we’re happy to put food on the table by feeding on tabloids, airing airwave grievances or broad-brushing broadcasters. So a mogul’s takeover try rates a Page 1 makeover, and a lack of sweeps-week eyeballs raises eyebrows. Lastly, something of a multimedia presentation: a newspaper cartoon everyman surfing multiple tele-tributes to a right-reverend broadcasting legend. Praise the Lord and pass the remote.
