Letters: Israel’s largesse for the Palestinians
Re “Israel withholds Palestinian revenue,” Dec. 3
Why is the headline not “Palestinian Authority’s debt to Israel foreclosed”? It would be much more neutral.
Out of fairness, it should be emphasized that despite the fact that the charters for the Palestine Liberation Organization and Hamas call for the destruction of Israel, out of its humanitarian nature Israel provides their power, water, currency, ports and many other vital services.
The only service now being withheld is Israel’s no-interest lending. Israel has no requirement to hold the bag as the Palestinian Authority’s lender, especially after Israel has been attacked with thousands of rockets from the Gaza Strip and the Palestinians have defaulted on $180 million in payments for power and violated their Oslo agreements.
