Letters: The price of selling drones
Re “Looking to spread their wings,” July 1
After reading this article on the sale of drones, I came across this quote by Albert Camus: “Each generation doubtless feels called upon to reform the world. Mine knows that it will not reform it, but its task is perhaps even greater. It consists in preventing the world from destroying itself.”
The more I read about the unintended consequences of some drone attacks, such as the horrible killing of noncombatants -- including children -- I find Camus’ reflection timely and relevant. Let us not dismiss it.

Henceforth, the safest people in wartime will be the military comfortably situated in Vegas and such places. Meantime, the victims of drone actions will be the vulnerable civilian populations.
