Letters: Huckabee’s words for women
Re “‘War on women’ debate is given new life,” Jan. 24
The war against women by Republicans continues unabated and was exacerbated by Mike Huckabee, who threw a bomb when he stated that “women are smart, educated, intelligent, capable of doing anything anyone else can do.”
Presumably the rest of us are unintelligent because, according to him, we believe that we are “helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government.”
This comes after former Republican Rep. Todd Akin famously said, “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.” Republican Richard Mourdock was unequivocal when he said, “Even when life begins with that horrible situation of rape, that is something that God intended to happen.”
He blames God. This is war.

Were I still in college or a member of the armed services, my rampaging libido would have me ravishing good-looking guys. It’s so good to be recognized by Huckabee.
