Opinion: How much entertainment is too much? Mixed thoughts on L.A. landing the Lucas museum
To the editor: Wow, another museum.
We can find land for stadiums, museums, theaters, and state of the art arenas, but we can’t find land to build housing for the poor?
So much for L.A. being a progressive city.

How much entertainment is too much?

To the editor: As former parks commissioner and one who helped Playa Vista donate hundreds of acres as open space, I see what your columnist points to in his article, but I think it’s only a narrow viewpoint.
The parking lot where Lucas will build the museum also creates a park.
Consider that Space Shuttle Endeavour has been viewed by millions of visitors so far, also Expo Center went from a red-tagged building to one of America’s great community centers (just ask Gustavo Dudamel and the many local folks who use it and the adjacent gorgeous soccer field).
Today, in Exposition Park, the Rose Garden, other great museums and schools and coliseum tours are all connected by cool walking/jogging paths and pocket parks that are used more than ever. Plus, it’s safe!
