Third Street hill in Laguna Beach to close to traffic starting Jan. 27
Both traffic lanes on the Third Street hill will be closed from Jan. 27 through Feb. 12 so crews can replace an underground sewer pipe.
Crews will insert pipes — encased within steel — below ground as part of a phased project to replace aging and deteriorated sewer lines in areas east of downtown, including near City Hall and the Laguna Beach County Water District offices. Work began in October and will wrap up this spring.
Third Street, from Park Avenue to Mermaid Street, will be closed 24 hours a day through Feb. 12. Mermaid Street’s westbound lane, from Second Street to Glenneyre Street, will also be closed from Wednesday through Feb. 12.
For information about the project, call (949) 464-6686 or visit the city’s water quality department website at clbwq.net.
