Reader Report: Assistance League holds Afternoon in Paris

An Afternoon in Paris Friend Raiser party made for a big day in Laguna. The event was put on by the Assistance League of Laguna Beach at Madison Square and Garden Café on Oct 4.

Food and drinks for the crowd of about 300 people were donated by owner Jon Madison. Assistance League members modeled Thrift Shop outfits with large price tags attached so that guests could buy them right off the models’ backs. Hats, shoes and jewelry were sold at bargain prices during the Paris-themed event.

Playing piano, Jim Roberts pleased the crowd with many French songs. There were a variety of items to purchase at the French flea market and the fabulous silent auction items garnered many bids from pleased attendees.

Guests donated treasures and those that didn’t sell that day are displayed at the Thrift Shop at 526 Glenneyre St. All donations go toward the League’s many philanthropic programs.
