NJB team keeps winning

The Laguna Beach Breakers National Junior Basketball Fifth-Grade All-Net team continued its winning streak with another big victory Saturday.

The second-place Breakers took that streak to eight in a row by defeating first-place Ladera Ranch Victory Gray, 54-34.

Playing without key players Noah Liao, Ben Neufeld and Luke Meisberger, a balanced attack was essential for the Breakers. They got that, as Boden Gillette dominated on offense and led the scoring with 15 points, Taylor Towe, Griffin Naess and Ben Reimers, scored 10 points apiece, and Oliver Rounaghi had nine points. Mason Herr and Devon Connelly provided excellent defense and had key rebounds to secure the win. Reimers turned in his best performance of the season by scoring inside the paint and leading the team in rebounds.

The Breakers are back in action Sunday and face the Chino Valley Heat.
