Orange County coronavirus cases up by almost 300

Orange County recorded nearly 300 new coronavirus cases Friday.

The Orange County Health Care Agency now reports 9,576 total cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, up from 9,292 on Thursday.

The county also reported seven COVID-19-related deaths Friday, bringing the total to 257. One of those deaths was a nursing home patient, bringing the subset of COVID-19 deaths in skilled nursing facilities to 129.

Estimated total recoveries increased to 4,591. Reported hospitalizations were at 336 with 142 in intensive care as of Wednesday, the most recent day available. The county also reported 671 additional tests over Thursday and 202,884 total tests given. Daily updates are preliminary and subject to change as the county receives new information.

By age range, patients who have died were:

• 85 and up: 79
• 75 to 84: 66
• 65 to 74: 47
• 55 to 64: 34
• 45 to 54: 21
• 35 to 44: 7
• 34 and younger: 3

• Santa Ana: 2,055 (60.8 cases per 10,000 residents)
• Anaheim: 1,839 (51.2 cases per 10,000 residents)
• Huntington Beach: 463 (22.7 cases per 10,000 residents)
• Irvine: 254 (9.1 cases per 10,000 residents)
• Costa Mesa: 202 (17.4 cases per 10,000 residents)
• Newport Beach: 185 (21.2 cases per 10,000 residents)
• Fountain Valley: 85 (15 cases per 10,000 residents)
• Laguna Beach: 52 (22.3 cases per 10,000 residents)
