Blue Bell revs up for fundraising campaign

A cat shelter in Laguna Canyon has a new look as it kicks off a fundraising campaign.

The Blue Bell Foundation for Cats, a nonprofit that offers lifetime aid for senior cats whose owners can no longer care for them, earlier this month unveiled a new logo and entry sign at its facility, at 20982 Laguna Canyon Road.

The new logo coincides with the organization’s five-year campaign to raise $500,000 for long-term stability, according to a news release.

“Our challenge today is to make sure we have the modern facilities and financial resources required so this wonderful place can be here for future generations of cats and their owners,” board chairwoman Susan Hamil said in the release.

Plans for the campaign are being developed. Details, including specific goals and philanthropic opportunities, will be announced at a kick-off event Oct. 12 at Madison Square & Garden Café in Laguna Beach.

Last year the foundation completed renovations at its lower house, destroyed in a 2010 rainstorm. The house is reserved for special-needs animals, such as those with diabetes, failing kidneys, vision loss and hyperthyroidism, according to an earlier Coastline Pilot story.
