Handcrafted charity combats homelessness and hunger
Hundreds of people enjoyed live music, food from area chefs and the main event, a silent auction featuring handcrafted bowls, at the seventh World Hunger Bowl on Thursday night at [seven-degrees] in Laguna Canyon.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit Changing Souls, a nonprofit that serves the homeless in Laguna Beach and the rest of Southern California.
Changing Souls board Chairwoman Faye Chapman founded the hunger bowl in 2008 as part of National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week. This year the Laguna Beach City Council decided that November would be dedicated to homeless awareness.
The public can help by dropping off non-perishable food items in boxes placed at schools and businesses throughout Laguna this month.
