50 Christmas trees light the bay at Newport Dunes

Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina kicked off its holiday celebration Saturday evening with the annual Lighting of the Bay, during which Santa Claus lights 50 Christmas trees on Newport Bay.

The ceremony capped “A Polar Paradise,” an eight-hour festival at the Newport Beach RV park that also featured 30 tons of snow for sledding, ice sculptures, live performances, food, a movie and a Christmas tree lot.
