400 collector cars up for auction this weekend at Newport Dunes
More than 400 collectible European sports cars, American muscle cars, hot rods and customs will be on display — and up for grabs — this weekend at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort in the fourth annual Russo and Steele Collector Automobile Auction.
The event begins Friday and runs through Sunday.
Here are some of the cars available in this year’s auction:
1967 Ford Shelby GT500: The Wimbledon white muscle car with blue stripes is one of 2,048 produced. It includes original and correct power steering, power brakes, Stuart Warner gauges, comfort-weave bucket seats, factory five-spoke Kelsey-Hays wheels, a wood-trimmed steering wheel and a functional factory roll bar.
1970 Buick GS Stage 1 convertible: One of two built with its triple black colors, the car retains its original sheet metal, transmission and drivetrain.
1959 Volkswagen Safari Bus: The 23-window vehicle, a VW Club First Place Award winner, is finished in two-tone colors.
1979 Porsche 911 Turbo: The car is one of the last 50 Turbos built for the U.S. market until 1986. The signature series Porsche is finished in pearl yellow-gold and was fully restored in 2014.
1997 Porsche 911 Turbo: The car is powered by a 3.6-liter turbo engine and has original black paint.
