Man robbed at gunpoint by masked men at Costa Mesa car wash
A man who had just cashed his paycheck was robbed at gunpoint Friday night when he pulled into a self-serve car wash in Costa Mesa, according to police.
Moments after the man parked in the 200 block of West Wilson Street around 9:25 p.m., three masked man approached, Costa Mesa police Sgt. Jim Brown said.
The men, one of whom had a handgun, demanded cash from the driver, according to police.
When he handed over his earnings, the robbers fled to a car the man didn’t see, Brown said. The victim was unhurt.
Police said the amount of the stolen cash was substantial, though they could not provide an exact figure.
The man was unable to provide a detailed description of the robbers because of their masks, Brown said.
