Fashion students give to abused children’s home
Orange Coast College fashion students wrapped up their fall semester Dec.
10 by donating more than five hours to making items for abused youngsters
living at Orangewood Children’s Home in Orange.
“It’s a way for us to give back,” said assistant professor of fashion,
Chris Amaral. “This project has stirred the emotions of our students, and
boosted our holiday spirits.”
After finishing their fashion finals, students put their studies to use
by making nightgowns, pillows and pillow cases for the kids. Students
donated all of the fabric for the project.
OCC fashion students have been participating in this type of project
since approximately 1993, said Amaral.
“We look to contribute to a different agency each year,” said Amaral. “We
all agreed that Orangewood was the agency for us this year.”
The project served as a medium for students to help those less fortunate.
“I wish I could do more,” said 18-year-old Celine Ouaknineof Huntington
Beach.
