Tars fall to Mayfair, 41-28

COSTA MESA - After taking an 18-17 lead into halftime, Newport

Harbor High’s girls basketball team fell to Mayfair, 41-28, in the first

round of the Costa Mesa Winter Classic at Costa Mesa High.

The Monsoons used a 15-4 fourth quarter to win the game.

Lindsay Moore led the Sailors (2-10) with eight points. Molly Weedn and

Athena Vasquez each scored five.

Newport continues play in the tournament against Rubidoux, today at 10:30
