Boys basketball: Sailors win in Nevada

CARSON CITY, Nev. - Newport Harbor High’s Dustin Illingworth scored

25 points and fellow senior Aaron Yarnal put the defensive clamps on a

renowned Reno scorer to help the Sailors earn a 57-46 quarterfinal boys

basketball win at the Carson City Capital Classic Monday.

Yarnal, who held prolific Reno guard Will Gamboa to 12 points, also

scored 12 to help propel the Tars (9-4) into tonight’s 5:40 semifinal

against Amador Valley of Pleasanton at Carson City High.

“There are plenty of good seats still available,” Newport Coach Larry

Hirst quipped.
