Ocean View High earns Golden Bell

Ocean View High School received the prestigious Golden Bell Award

during the 12th annual Golden Bell Awards program of the California

School Boards Assn. The award was granted in the student support category

for its Week of Welcome freshman orientation program, under the direction

of Phyllis Helland and Ada Clutter.

The award program promotes excellence in education by recognizing

outstanding programs in school districts throughout California. Ocean

View’s Week of Welcome was selected because of its focus on the needs of

freshmen entering the school and providing them with an overview of the

curriculum, layout and culture of the school, as well as preparing them

for a successful high school experience, officials said.
