GIVING THANKS

I’m thankful this year for loving sons and caring neighbors; my new

titanium knee replacements and the doctor who gave them to me; the Animal

Assistance League, which rescued a four-pound abused Chihuahua, named

Rosie Jean and the light of my life; Fred Rodriguez, my postal carrier of

many years, pleasant and so prompt, one can tell time by him; seven

decades of a mostly happy life . . . living to see a great-grandchild;

and all the personal freedoms that living in America brings. God bless

her.

I love the holiday of Thanksgiving, the only true holiday that

merchants don’t make mincemeat of. There are so many blessings that we

enjoy, especially here in Huntington Beach. Thanks for hearing me out and

giving me the opportunity to search my soul.

PEG RICHIE

Huntington Beach

In the postelection period of the Huntington Beach City Council race,

I’m glad for the opportunity to run for political office. Thanks to the

10,050 who voted for me. Most of all, I’m thankful for life. Also, for a

caring participatory community. We are fortunate to live in a country

where anyone can speak one’s hopes and dreams, and take an active part in

developing those for our local friends and neighbors.

Our Huntington Beach family includes some of the most fortunate people

in the world, enjoying a very affluent, fulfilling lifestyle. Thanks to

God for so many reasons to be grateful.

spent countless hours of hard work on my behalf and to the thousands of

so much.

I am grateful for the love and support of my wife and family, the

unconditional trust of a 7-year-old son, the good health and mental

acuity of a 95-year-old mother, the ethics of my co-workers, the

confidence that the education community has again placed in me and to

live in a country that enables anyone to achieve their dreams as long as

they are willing to put in the effort.
