AYSO REGION 56
The H.B. Flames of Region 56 overcame an early 1-0 deficit Saturday by
scoring a pair of unanswered goals to knock off the first-place
Metrostars, 2-1, in an AYSO boys’ Under 12 Division playoff match.
Trailing 1-0 with seconds remaining in the first period, Justin De
Marco dribbled around two defenders and blasted a shot into the upper
corner of the net to tie the score. The two teams went into the break
knotted at 1-1, but the Flames’ Josh Sabillion helped break the tie by
drawing a pair of Metrostar defenders toward him before passing off to
Ian Gould, who scored from point-blank range to give the Flames a 2-1
edge.
The Flames’ defensive line of Cameron Dover, Luis Barragan, and Blake
Hihara, and goalie Josh Laurel, shut down the Metrostars for the
remainder of the contest.
Bryn Fedderson, Jimmy Fay, Tu Nguyen, Brian Carson, and Keith
Goldstein also contributed to the win as the Flames continue in the
playoffs this Thanksgiving weekend.
