Donations still sought for ‘Save a Seat’ campaign
The Edison High “Save a Seat” campaign wants to raise $30,000 to
replace dilapidated wooden benches with new aluminum ones in the school’s
stadium. The wood benches are rotting away and are uncomfortable to sit
on. Donations of any amount are accepted.
So far, $6,000 has been donated, and school officials hope to gather
the funds and install new benches in time for graduation June 15.
For information on donations call Jill Johnson at (714) 962-1356, Ext.

Coastline, Navy form partnership
Coastline Community College has signed a new partnership agreement
with the U.S. Navy designed to expand and improve voluntary education
opportunities for sailors.
Recognized for its pioneering distance learning programs, Coastline
has already been providing educational opportunities for thousand of
sailors every year. In a recent ceremony at the Navy submarine base in
Groton, Conn., 50 sailors received associate’s degrees from Coastline,
many of whom were flown in from naval commands in distant locations.
Many courses will be accessed by sailors online via the Internet as
well as compact disc, video and print-based distance learning materials
that are independent of time or place constraints.
Donations sought for Coastline scholarships
Coastline Community College is seeking donations for scholarships for
students, such as immigrants facing language and financial handicaps, and
single parents.
There is no limit to donations and those who donate $100 or more may
choose a title for their scholarship to honor a specific criteria. Donors
also will be invited to a Scholarship Reception Awards Program in May,
where they can meet the recipients and present their awards.
For more information, call (714) 241-6154.
