OFFENSE

RICHARD SCHWARTZ, Quarterback, Edison: The UC Berkeley-bound Schwartz

completed 115 of 211 pass attempts (54%), good for 1,868 yards (a 16.2

average) and 17 touchdowns, with just five interceptions in 12 games.

RUSSELL OSCHMAN, Running Back, Huntington Beach: Oschman established a

new Oiler single-season rushing record with a senior campaign that racked

up 1,536 yards in 10 games.

PHILLIP SMITH, Receiver, Ocean View: Smith’s record-setting stint

concluded with a senior year that included records in the following

categories: tied for receptions (60), yardage (1,004), touchdowns (12),

and tied for most points scored (72). In addition, he is the school’s

career record holder for receiving yards (1,979), receptions (122), most

points scored (126) and touchdowns (20).

BILL HALEY, Lineman, Edison: A two-way lineman, Haley recorded 22 solo

and 24 assisted tackles, had 2.5 sacks, two hurries (incompletes), a

caused interception and one fumble recovery, and he was all over the

playing field for the Chargers.

RAMON MURRILLO, Lineman, Ocean View: The big gun up front who provided

plenty of protection for the Seahawk backfield, Murrillo played on both

sides of the ball. On the defensive side, he had 16 solo and 23 assisted

tackles.

ED FANE, Lineman, Fountain Valley: Fane, a transfer from Mater Dei,

was the key figure along the Barons’ offensive line, paving the way for

the rushing attack. Fane finished the year with 54 flat backs.

DENNY FLANAGAN, Receiver, Edison: One of two main receivers for

Richard Schwartz, Flanagan, a junior, gained 617 yards on 31 receptions

to top the Chargers. He averaged 19 yards per reception, finished with

five touchdowns, and also led Edison with a 12.6 average on six punt

returns.

JORDAN CONNOLLY, Lineman, Huntington Beach: Connolly was a cog up

front for the Oilers and graded out at 87% for the season. Also played

along Huntington’s D-line and came up with 19 solo and 15 assisted

tackles, two sacks, and two fumble recoveries.

CHRISTIAN PRELLE, Receiver, Edison: Prelle’s senior campaign featured

529 yards (17.6 average) on 30 receptions, which included four

touchdowns.

BRIAN RUZIECKI, Tackle, Huntington Beach: Ruziecki played at tackle,

where he graded out at 83% blocking. The junior also played defensive

end, getting 34 tackles and six sacks.

TRAVIS WILSON, Kicker, Edison: Wilson could be called Mr. Consistent,

with his ability to put kickoffs in the opposing teams’ end zone. He

averaged 57 yards on 62 kickoff attempts. Wilson also played defensive

back and receiver, finishing with 56 solo and 45 assisted tackles and two

interceptions, and had a 9.6-yard per reception average.

DEFENSE

BERNARD FANO, Lineman, Fountain Valley: Despite being hit by injury

and missing four games this past season, Fano turned in another

outstanding effort with 30 total tackles - 10 of which resulted in

negative yardage, three sacks, and four hurries (incompletes).

ADAM HAYWARD, Linebacker, Marina: A two-way player, Hayward was in on

a team-high 105 tackles, had three fumble recoveries and two

interceptions. As a running back, he gained 451 yards on 62 carries (7.2

avg.) and scored seven TDs.

SETH PRELESNIK, Linebacker, Edison: Prelesnik capped a three-year

varsity career the way he began it -- by making the Dream Team. He

recorded a team-best 97 solo and 52 assisted tackles, a pair of sacks,

three hurries (incompletes), two interceptions (one returned for a

touchdown) and one fumble recovery, and he recovered an onside kick. He

also played some offense and had a 12.5 average on four receptions, one

of which was a touchdown. Ends his Edison playing career with a school

record 391 career touchdowns.

RUSSELL CHEMBERLEN, Lineman, Huntington Beach: Chemberlen came up huge

in his final year with the Oilers with 41 solo and 15 assisted tackles, a

whopping 11 quarterback sacks, five caused fumbles, and one fumble

recovery. Also played at tight end on offense, and graded out at 82%

blocking.

JASON KETCHAM, Lineman, Ocean View: Ketcham finished with 31 solo and

46 assisted tackles, and he had two sacks and one fumble recovery.

ROBERT CHAVEZ, Linebacker, Fountain Valley: Chavez keyed a Baron

defense with 51 solo and 11 assisted tackles (10 going for loss), and

tied for the team lead in defensive points. Also saw time in the Fountain

Valley backfield, where he gained 100 yards on 29 rushing attempts.

AJ MARTINEZ, Back, Edison: A player who did a bit of everything,

Martinez came up with a record eight interceptions, which was one of the

best performances this year by a county back. He also had 53 solo and 18

assisted tackles, nine hurries, and a blocked punt. Martinez also punted,

where he averaged 36 yards on 46 attempts, with a long of 71 yards, and

handled kickoff returns (13.0 average on nine returns).

BERNARD MITCHELL, Safety, Marina: Another two-way player for the

Vikings, Mitchell was in on 86 tackles and had two interceptions at his

safety position. At running back, he gained 472 yards on 86 carries (5.4

avg.) and scored two TDs.

CHUCKIE LINMAN, Back, Edison: Linman was a terror on both sides of the

ball. Defensively, he was in on 79 solo and 47 assisted tackles, had one

sack, four interceptions, and a fumble recovery. As a running back, he

rushed for 221 yards (a 6.3 average) and three touchdowns on 35 carries.

KJELL JOHNSON, Linebacker, Fountain Valley: Had 47 solo and 12

assisted tackles, four forced fumbles and tied for the team lead with

Robert Chavez for total defensive points.

ANDREW STROTHER, Noseguard, Marina: Usually double-teamed during the

season, Strother was a mainstay on the Vikings’ stop unit and finished

with three fumble recoveries, five sacks, and was in on 57 tackles.

ERICK FALESSI, Linebacker, Ocean View: Falessi tied teammate Jason

Ketcham for team-high tackle honors with a total of 77. He also came up

with two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

MARCUS McCUTCHEON, Utility, Edison: McCutcheon could be found all over

the field for the Chargers. As a defensive back, he came up with 48 solo

and 29 assisted tackles, one sack, six hurries and two interceptions. The

junior also rushed 17 times for a 4.5 average, caught 21 passes with

three touchdowns and a 16.7 per catch average, had a 12.2-yard punt

return average, and had a 27.8-yard kickoff return average, returning one

for a touchdown.
