AYSO Region 120: Vipers take fourth at Costa Mesa Classic

COSTA MESA - The Vipers, a boys-under-12 gold all-star soccer team

from AYSO Region 120, placed fourth at last weekend’s Costa Mesa Classic.

The Vipers won their opener against Rancho Santa Margarita, 3-0. Goals

were scored by Kenneth Zich, JayBenny Quiroz and Brian Cozza.

Following a 3-0 loss to San Juan Capistrano, the Vipers regrouped for

a 1-0 win over Corona del Mar. Quiroz scored the game’s lone goal,

pushing the Vipers into the medal round.

In the final game, The Vipers lost to Newport Beach, 1-0. Solid

defense was turned in by Nick Straubel, Anthony Secest, Josh Knauer, Matt

Pisarski and Ryan Pfautz, while offense was led by Cody Waldron, Alex

Villalba, Starnes Arnold, Benny Eldes and Avan Bueno.
