Police seek robber of Newport Beach bank
Newport Beach police and the FBI are searching for a man who robbed
the Bank of America on Via Lido on Thursday afternoon, fleeing on foot
with an undisclosed amount of money.
In a handwritten note passed to the teller, the man demanded money and
claimed to have a gun. No shots were fired, and no one was hurt, police
said. The robber was last seen running toward Newport Boulevard shortly
after 3 p.m., said Newport Beach Police Sgt. Steve Shulman.
The man is described as in his early 20s, 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds,
with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a white baseball cap
and a white long-sleeved sweatshirt.
