Mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves will make her Orange County Performing

Arts Center debut at 8 p.m. Jan. 26 in Segerstrom Hall, 600 Town Center

Drive, Costa Mesa. Graves is noted for her rich, expressive voice and her

stage presence. She is performing as part of The Center’s Voices in Song

Lecture series includes talk of ecology, technology

The Newport Beach Central Library’s fourth annual Distinguished

Speakers Lecture Series will present experts in the fields of

oceanography, social ecology, transformational technologies and global

terrorism in a four-program series beginning at 7 p.m. Feb. 16. Friday

evening programs, including a buffet dinner, will be $50. Guest talks on

Center announces 2002 Voices in Song series

The Orange County Performing Arts Center has announced two

international operatic superstars for its 2002 Voices in Song Series:

soprano Renee Fleming and bass-baritone Samuel Ramey. The series will be

presented in association with Opera Pacific. Fleming will perform at 2

p.m. March 17, 2002. Ramey will perform at 2 p.m. April 7, 2002. This

year’s stars for Voices in Song are mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves and

soprano Kathleen Battle. The Center is at 600 Town Center Drive, Costa

Mesa. Subscriptions for the 2002 Voices in Song Series will cost

Fiesta Latina auditions to be held

Orange Coast College’s Dance Department will hold auditions for

“Fiesta Latina” at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 31 in OCC’s Dance Studio C, 2701

Fairview Road, Costa Mesa. The group is a dance and cultural heritage

outreach to Orange County’s elementary schools and adults. OCC’s first

“Fiesta Latina” performances were given in May and December. The next one
