Lightning overpowers Avalanche in title match
A five-goal second period outburst was all that was needed to send the
Lightning on its way to the Wales Division championship, as the team rode
that blitz to post an 8-1 victory over the Avalanche on Saturday at Coast
2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.
Blake Easton, Shane Galaviz and Niko Urbano each scored twice, and
Garrett Ono and Brandon Prince scored one goal apiece.
Easton, Jeffrey Kurokawa and Thomas Lawlor each had an assist, and
Prince and Corey Brown each had two assists.
Josh Hulstein recorded 24 saves and didn’t allow a goal until the
final period.
Eric Brazile scored off a Patrick Lacy assist, and Jacob St. Dennis
had 29 saves for the Avalanche.

LEMIEUX DIVISION
Chunks 11, Hawks 3
The Chunks ripped the net for six first-period goals and never looked
back.
Jessen Zimmerman scored three goals and assisted three other goals,
David Lehman scored twice with an assist, Greg Earl scored twice, Marissa
Castle netted one goal with an assist, Sean Belisle and Eric Shiroishi
each scored once, and Nick LeMonnier had an assist to lead the Chunks.
Goalie Chaz Grant finished with 20 saves.
Brian Ayala scored a pair of second-period goals for the Hawks and
assisted the final score, a third-period goal by Corey Ochoa. David
Kirchner, Jake Bartley and JM McNulty had assists, and goalie Kyle
Concannon recorded 28 saves.
PATRICK DIVISION
Devils 6, Flames 0
Ricky Munyan shut out the Flames on 11 saves; Michael Zike scored
twice and had one assist;, Adam Frey scored once with an assist; and Dan
Zike, Kyle Goode and Tony Derleth scored single goals.
JUNIOR HIGH A DIVISION
Sentinels 7, Eagles 3
Bradley Ellis scored twice and also had two assists, Bryan Sakaguchi
scored twice, Jim Morrill scored once with an assist, Jared Yonekura and
Josh Schaeffer each scored once, and Jeremy Miller had an assist to lead
the Sentinels.
For the Eagles, Josh Laricchia scored once and assisted the other two
goals, Joey Laricchia and Michael Burkhardt each scored once, and goalie
Ross Turchi had 26 saves.
JUNIOR HIGH B DIVISION
Crusaders 4, Mariners 3
Third-period goals by Adam Springer, off a Bradley Groen assist, and
Austin Taylor lifted the Crusaders past the Mariners.
It was the second goal of the game for Springer, who also scored in
the second period off a Taylor feed, and Springer also assisted a goal by
Groen to open the scoring for the Crusaders.
Danielle Groen recorded 10 saves for the winners.
Mike Sacco had a goal and assist, Chad Ramsey and Kevin Lachman each
scored once, and Tim Kraus had 24 saves to lead the Mariners.
PEE WEE CLUB DIVISION
Elmos 10, Mavericks 6
The Elmos outscored the Mavericks, 6-0, in the first period and rolled
from there.
The scoring spree was led by Jonathan and Kenny Gibo, each with two
goals and three assists. Brett Yamaoka and Rhett Rakhshani each scored
twice and had an assist, Richard Leitner scored twice, Matthew Leitner
had a pair of assists, and goalie Tommy Tartaglione stopped 19 shot
attempts.
Ryan Pelliccioni scored twice to lead the Mavericks, Josh Laricchia
scored once and had three assists, Joshua Hackworth and Jason Krispel
each had a goal and assist, Peter Ryan scored once, and Joey Laricchia
had two assists.
