CHINO - Corona del Mar High’s Jackie McCoy, Katie Allbright and

Jennifer Woo finished among the top five girls golfers at the Pacific

Coast League finals Tuesday to advance to the Southern Section CIF

individual finals.

McCoy shot a 15-over-par 88 in the second and final round at El Prado

Golf Club to bring her two-day total score to 172.

Fourth-place finisher Katie Allbright shot an 85 for a total score of

179. Junior Jennifer Woo placed fifth after shooting a 91 in the second

round to bring her total to 184.

The Sea Kings’ Stephanie Kendrick shot 102 in the second round and

finished with a total score of 194 to take tenth place.

Angela Won of University was the top finisher. She shot a 2-under-par

71 in the second round to bring her total to 136.

Won and McCoy automatically advance to the individual CIF finals. CdM

head coach Mike Starkweather will petition for Allbright and Woo to

advance. He must send in 10 scores, which he has, of under 45 from this

season for each golfer by Friday.

Three is the most golfers Corona del Mar has advanced to the

individual CIF girls finals in a single season.

“Truly, it’s an outstanding effort by the girls to set a Corona del

Mar record of sending three girls to the individual finals,” Starkweather

said. “I think that they are gaining a lot more maturity in the way they

approach the game and their skill levels are coming into focus.”

Starkweather said the Newport Beach Country Club and Corona del Mar’s

junior varsity program, headed by his wife Janelle, has contributed to

the team’s success.

Five CdM varsity golfers are products of the junior varsity team.

The individual CIF finals will be held Nov. 15 at Mission Lakes

Country Club in Desert Hot Springs.
