Men’s basketball: Vanguard edges Mustangs
Vanguard University led by only two points at halftime and held on
to earn a 77-74 victory over the Master’s College in a Golden State
Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Wednesday.
Damion Morbley led the Lions with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Shane
McKim pitched in with 12 points for Vanguard, followed by Josh Pierson
(11 points), Leviticus Williamson (11 points) and Garid Beeler (10
points).
The Lions made 12 of 16 free throw attempts in the second half and
shot 70.8% for the game from the free-throw line.
Vanguard improves to 7-8, 3-3 in the GSAC. The Mustangs (11-3, 3-2)
were paced by Brandee Jones with 30 points, including five
three-pointers. Tyler Hoffman added 14 points in the loss.
