Pet of the Week
“Spring’s Dumpster babies have arrived, just days old with umbilical
cords still attached,” says DiAnna Pfaff-Martin, founder of the Community
Animal Network. “The network needs donations for kitten formula to be
able to rescue these little ones.”
Four newborn kittens without a mom drink one 24-ounce can of kitten
formula a week for six weeks, Pfaff-Martin said. To deliver a healthy
abandoned kitten, it costs an average of $300 to feed, medically treat
and neuter, she said.
“If everyone reading this wrote a check for $25, it would feed four
kittens without a mama for a week,” Pfaff-Martin said. “We need
volunteers to bottle feed and to be foster homes too.”
Donations have dropped 75% since Sept. 11, she said.
