Boys tennis: Tars take down Tesoro, 14-4
NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport Harbor High boys tennis team dropped
just one doubles set and also took control in singles, leading to a 14-4
nonleague victory over visiting Tesoro Wednesday.
The Newport tandems of Adam Uhl and Bob D’Eliscu, and Jason Lund and
Dylan Espley-Jones swept their doubles sets, while Tyler Deck won his
three singles sets for the Sailors (3-5).
Uhl and D’Eliscu, Newport’s No. 1 doubles team, rallied from a 4-0
deficit for a 7-6 win over Tesoro’s No. 2 doubles.
“They were looking kind of down, but they ended up coming back and
winning the tiebreaker, 7-5,” Newport Coach Jeff Thomsen said of his duo.
