Community college baseball:
Matt Clanton, Rob Williams and Glenn Hedgpeth combined to record 12
strikeouts to lead the Orange Coast College baseball team to a 1-0
victory over host College of Sequoias, to open the COS Tournament
Wednesday.
Clanton, OCC’s starter, struck out seven in four innings, while
Williams fanned three in four innings. Hedgpeth came in the ninth and
earned the save, while striking out two to help give the Pirates (18-6)
their fourth straight win.
OCC sophomore Jake Garcia belted a two-out RBI double to score Ryan
Marcos, who singled to reach.
The Pirates continue tourney play today, facing Cabrillo and West
Hills.
