‘Full Monty,’ ‘Mamma Mia!’ at the Center

“The Full Monty,” “Mamma Mia!” and “Les Miserables” are among the

musicals that will fill the seats of the Orange County Performing Arts

Center as part of the 2002-03 Bank of America Broadway Series.

Coming to the Center for the first time are “The Full Monty,” Sept.

3-15; “Seussical The Musical,” Dec. 25 through Jan. 4; “Contact,” Jan. 4

through Feb. 2; “42nd Street,” June 11-22, 2003; Elton John’s “Aida,”

July 2-13, 2003; and the ABBA-driven “Mamma Mia!”, July 29 through Aug.

10, 2003. Returning to the Center are “Les Miserables,” April 8-20, 2003,

and “Cats,” May 27 through June 1, 2003.

A concert by Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald and the musical revue

“Forbidden Hollywood” will also be available as options for season ticket

holders. Renewal information will be sent to subscribers this week, with

new subscriptions available to the general public starting June 9. Prices

range from $203 to $447 for the seven-show series. Tickets to “Cats,”

Audra McDonald and “Forbidden Hollywood” will be available, with

subscribers having priority.

On July 13, the Center will hold its sixth annual Broadway Seat Sale

and Open House, in which subscribers will have an opportunity to select

new ticket seating locations in person.

Sills is out, Wopat is in

Yee-haw! Instead of swashbuckler Douglas Sills, patrons of the Orange

County Performing Arts Center’s Cabaret Series will see Tom Wopat perform

April 11-14. Wopat, who was here last year as Frank Butler in “Annie Get

Your Gun,” is replacing Sills, best known for his work in “The Scarlet

Pimpernel,” because of a family emergency on Sills’ part.

Smooth-voiced Wopat is best known for his work on “The Dukes of

Hazard.” He will perform show tunes and standards.

Wopat will perform 7:30 p.m. April 11-12, 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. April 13

and 7 p.m. April 14. Tickets are $49 for the 7:30 p.m.shows, and $46 for

the 7 and 9:30 p.m. shows.

Sneak preview of operatic ‘Dead Man Walking’

Opera Pacific will present a sneak preview performance of “Dead Man

Walking” at 4 p.m. April 14 with $10 tickets for college students and

educators.

Regular prices for the Jake Heggie opera are $25 to $125.

All performances will be at the Orange County Performing Arts Center,

600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa.
