In Corona del Mar Pony Division action:
Cardinals 12, Riverdogs 2 - The Riverdogs took an early lead with
single runs in the first and second innings. But the Cardinals tied the
score in the third inning on singles by Martin Ostrowsky and Ryan Lance
and a double by Kyle Schneekluth.
Andrew Dialynis led off the fourth with a home run and Matt Loyd
scored on a double by Kelsey Chase. In the fifth, Lance blasted a two-run
double, scoring Jaffer Kattan and Schneekluth.
Jamie Kline pounded out a grand slam in the sixth inning, which began
with five consecutive base hits. Schneekluth, who also pitched, struck
out 10 of the 12 batters he faced.
In Newport Beach Little League AAA Division action:
Red Sox 5, Angels 4 - In a battle of undefeated teams the Red Sox
remained standing with a perfect record. Parker Werline and Blake Thomsen
pitched three solid innings each for the Red Sox. Werline struck out
three and walked only one. On offense, he went 2 for 3.
Thomsen allowed just one run and recorded five strikeouts, his final
fanning was with the tying run on third base in the bottom of the sixth
inning with two outs. He also went 3 for 3 in the hitting department.
The Angels’ Doug Watt pitched an impressive three innings, striking
out six of the 13 batters he faced. He allowed only one run and one walk.
