Eberts powers Cards past Angels, 6-0
Carl Eberts had his hand in just about every facet of the Cardinals’
Majors Division weekend victory over the Angels.
Eberts threw a complete-game no-hitter and also blasted a grand slam
home run to lead his team to a 16-0 triumph.
The home run was Eberts’ fifth of the season.
His win was supported by the two-RBI performances of Wesley Lightman,
Brian Silvey and Johnny McCarty, and singles by Aaron Amaral, Austin
Rovazzini, Jamie Martin and Josh Amaral.

Cardinals 7, Yankees 6
Center fielder Wesley Lightman’s over-the-shoulder catch on the run in
the top of the sixth inning prevented the Yankees from scoring the tying
run and preserved the Cardinals’ victory.
The Yankees had led most of the game after scoring five runs in their
first at-bat behind hits by Kevin Doran, Jacob Sobelman, Brian Kobylka
and Wes Davis.
The Cardinals rallied to tie the game with a five-run fourth inning
and took the lead with a two-run fifth. Aaron Amaral had a two-RBI double
and Lightman, Brian Silvey, Carl Eberts, Bruno Galindo and Johnny McCarty
all singled during the comeback.
