Estranged couple found dead in home
An estranged couple was found shot to death Saturday, in what police
suspect was murder suicide.
At 6:29 p.m. Saturday, Laguna Beach Police officers found 70-year-old
Glenn Stuart and his estranged wife Mendie Stuart, 69, deceased in his
home.
According to police the estranged wife was living with her daughter
and received a call from Glenn Stuart at about 4:30 p.m., telling the
wife to come over and pick up her mail. She told her daughter where she
was going and that she would be back in about 10 minutes.
The daughter called the police after an hour and a half, asking that
they check on her.
Police found the Mendie Stuart in bed with multiple gun shot wounds to
her head.
Police suspect the husband shot the wife and then turned the gun on
himself, shooting himself, said Sgt. Jason Kravetz.
“They had fatal wounds, with his self-inflicted. That’s why hers is
classified a homicide and his a suicide -- because we can tell by the way
the gun is fired,” Kravetz said.
Kravetz said this is Laguna’s first homicide in three or four years.
Police found a .38 caliber handgun in the bedroom.
