Laguna Beach High School teachers Odile Dewar and Mike Roche were
recognized for their success in inspiring their students and exhibiting a
passion for teaching when Natalie Zucker awarded them both giant checks
for $600. . . . The Ebell Club of Laguna Beach gathered for a gala dinner
June 3 at Partners Bistro Terrace in Laguna to install its new officers.
After dinner, outgoing two-term President Penny Stastny, turned over the
reins to Mitchellene Channels. Installation chairperson Teri Whitney
presented each new officer with a skein of yarn representing her office
while she read a poem she’d written saying that, when woven together,
they would create a tapestry of their skills to make the club the best it
can possibly be. The new officers are: Mitchellene Channels, president;
Darlene Bergeron, vice president; Mary Jo Mancuso, treasurer; Mary
Thomson, recording secretary; Cristina Calderone, corresponding secretary
and directors Karen Baker, Ginny Preston and Joyce Winter.
